Shake the tree

July 5, 2007

Since blowing my own horn is never allowed here I won’t say I told you so.  I will however say that David Duke throwing his support behind Ron Paul should make a lot of you question where you stand.  You really can judge people based on the company they keep, and this guy is drawing every radical freakazoid militia racist gonzo whacko to his banner.  Also a lot of bloggers, libertarians, and conservatives I’ll grant, but the scum always rises to the top, and the David Duke report isn’t a good thing.

in other non-news the Clintons are actually trying to delineate between their behaviour, well Bills, at the end of his presidency, and Bushies commuting of Scooter Libby.  Unfortunately they have a small point.  Libby is involved in the administration, and may, I say may, be covering for his bosses.  Quid pro quo? who knows.  A few of the folks Bill let off the hook knew where his bodies were buried as well, though.  John Conyers is holding hearings.  We’re paying for it.  Do you ever tire of the incessant handjob our politicians practice?  Its costly, and useless, yet they continue to do it no matter who holds the reins.

The blog is healthy, long live the blog.  Met some new folks.  If you really wanna tickle your funny bone I recommend Mediapython.  He’s a good writer too.  It’s a decent place to drop a few minutes of your day.. his post about his to do list had me amused no end.

Max Adams.  Here’s true talent.   Her blog is an eclectic hodge podge of creativity that should entertain you.   Warning to all you fellas.  clever or sexy, or the bouncer won’t let you in.  If you don’t believe she has talent, she inspired the first ever picture at my picture free blog.

MDVPhas a political (primarily) blog, and seems aware of the game.  He’s a Fred Thompson guy and you political types should check him out

for a different slant on the world take a peek at Stranger.  She’s funny, and observant.  A good combo.

I’ve already plugged D. Peace, but some folks just have it, and he has ten bucks everytime I do this.  I’m not really sure why this guy isn’t a drunken comedic lounge act, but I’m glad he’s here instead.

oscarandre is a writer.  that may seem dull as accolades go, but man, he is a writer

The rest of the blogroll is good stuff to.  I recommend vote-smart.org to anyone interested in politics, but not altogether sure they’re getting the straight dope from their candidates blog.

did I say dope? Man, i miss that.

for the roscoe the wonder  bunny fans…last night I caught the    penile purveyor sexually assaulting mollie the dogs water dish.  He’s a bit of a randy bastard, and I’m not sure whether I should have him in the same house as my teenaged children.  I’m contemplating leasing him out to some “b” movie clown and see if i can’t make enough loot to replace the water dish.  I wouldn’t drink out of it, and since mollie witnessed the above mentioned atrocity, I doubt she will either.

there…thats a wrap

whoops…anita has a macabre thing going that will tittilate  those into that sort of thing.

the best 4th of july

July 5, 2007

I’m sure somewhere in the annals of this holiday there is a better one, but this is the best 4th I’ve ever had

years ago I went and watched the Beack Boys Live at the Hollywood Bowl.  You could see the word hollywood that you see in the movies on the hillside in the distance.  After they played such greats as Barbarann, giddyup 409, and I get around, there was this huge fireworks show.  People were drinking beer that was being served in popcorn buckets, and the pungently sweet smell of marijuana was hanging like a blue fog in the air over the crowd.

It doesn’t get any more “americana” than that

Ron Paul presidential campaign site (and other things you didn’t want to know)

July 5, 2007

this is not a matter of advocacy.  I would just like to make it easy for the political readers to get to the websites of their favorite candidates. You should really check out the Ron Paul site.  His aw shucksiness is worth a read

 http://www.ronpaul2008.com/  libertarian disguised as a republican…well worth a look

http://www.hillaryclinton.com/?splash=1  this may or may not be her official site.  i think she is so practiced in obfuscating that making anything obvious is beyond her

http://www.barackobama.com/   I have several friends/acquaintences that like this guy.  I’m worried about his experience

Fred thompson:  As he isn’t in yet, he has no site, but I can try to get you a picture of him with his toe in the water

http://www.joinrudy2008.com/   several of these have send me money pages up front…hi, you don’t know me, but give me cash and then come see what I’m about.

http://www.mittromney.com/   Mitt’s site loaded a little slow…i think its the vast anti-mormon conspiracy rearing its ugly head

there you have it.  The candidates.  What? You say there are more?  Don’t kid yourself.  Thats it kids.  If one of them isn’t yourt next president then i’ve never slept with an orangutan.  Also go to vote-smart.org.  They have a ton of info that your candidate wouldn’t tell you if you were married to his mother

Just shut up…I know you can read

July 5, 2007

Has it really escaped you folks that Kieth Olbermann, Neil Cavuto, Bill O’reilly,  Lou Dobbs,  Sean Hannity and all the others like them are just reading?  Thats what they do.  You can idolize them all you want, but your time would be better spent cheering on a 7 year old that is having trouble with this endeavor.  these people don’t write what they say.  they just read it.  I’ll grant that this helps employ several undertalented individuals that would be out of work if not for each little demagogues 1 hour a day of scatalogical vitriol, but other than that their contribution to society is an ability to read.

Of course for the millions of people that can’t think for themselves, that oversimplify every issue in the exact same way that the major news organizations do, these pontificators are the true leaders of our nation.  They are the ones who determine what will be on the agenda.  Lou Dobbs singlehandedly managed to keep the illegal immigration issue front and center day after day on CNN.  You may think ths is ok, but harken back to my original premise.  His only real ability is to read.  He should shape our social agenda?  Kieth Olbermann went on a rant against “24.”  A fictional show that involves some fairly controversial issues, but none the less a fiction show.  Thats the equivalent of you screaming at Homer Simpson.  Yet this man is in the vanguard of the legions that consider the commuting of Scooter Libby’s sentence to be a travesty of justice.  Again, this is ok, but it leaves out the fact that commuting sentences and even pardoning convicted federal felons is the purview of the president, and is nothing more nor less than use of executive privilege.  It’s a minor issue at best, and certainly not one to divert attention from all the major issues facing our nation.  Fortunately, we have that well known dramatic prose reader Kieth to sway the masses off a sensible course.

Sean Hannity, that paragon of enunciating virtue had built a veritable empire as a result of his ability to avoid the dangling participle.  Even his look screams cookie cutter conservative wonk.  When he reads though people stop and listen.  They then wander out amongst the unaware, and repeat whatever pathological right wing fringe allegation that Sean has whispered in there ear.  He’s not an expert on anything.  He has the same basic knowledge of human events as anyone else has.  The difference is he puts on a suit, has a makeup girl, and reads with a snide little “I’m smarter than you” look on his face.  This may be so, but he is still just reading for a living.

Think.  Immigration reform, social security and medicare, the war on terror and islamic fundamentalism, are all extremely complex issues.  You could spend years studying economics and still not be able to get this country on a good economic track, yet you so willingly give up your autonomy in the free thought department to people who have never proven to be anything.   Well, they’ve proven they can read.  Outwit them.  Think
